Stephanie Owen is a dancer, choreographer, and artist educator born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. At the early age of 5 she was introduced to Tap dance and Gymnastics, while coming from a family background of Salsa/Cumbia dancers mixed with Funk/Soul music fanatics. Through her teens she discovered a passion for Samba, taking class with Fogo Na Ropa Brazilian Dance/ Percussion Company, and then shortly fell in love with Hip Hop choreography through performing with Culture Shock SF’s youth group Future Shock. After receiving a BA in Dance from San Francisco State University, she began working for Stanford University as a youth program Hip Hop & Cultural dance instructor and mentor.
Throughout the years Stephanie has won awards in choreography for the SF Carnaval Parade/Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts dance contingents, gained years of teaching knowledge as instructor through Dance Mission Theater’s Dance Program, and has had the privilege to work with many Bay Area schools as Senior Teaching Artist through Performing Arts Workshop, a non-profit arts education organization. Stephanie is currently a freelance dancer and choreographer; her work ranging from Choreographer for Latin Grammy award winning recording artist Flex to Ballroom Dance Instructor for SFUSD 1st annual Latin Dance and Swing Competition.
