Jeanne's work is grounded in ongoing personal practices in dance and yoga dating to 1975. She holds a BA and an MFA in Dance from Mills College, Integral Yoga Certifications in Hatha Yoga and Raja Yoga, and a PhD in Education from Capella University. Jeanne founded and directed Six Thumbs Dance Theater, a San Francisco-based company that promoted the creation of live performance, and served on the board of directors of Asian American Dance Performances and TRANSIT Dance Company. As a teacher, Jeanne is devoted to promoting creativity and wellness across the lifespan, and in working with children, adults, families, and teachers to do so. Her passion is the healing and expressive nature of the human body in motion and the ongoing projects of physically, mentally, and emotionally preparing ourselves to transform and thrive in response to the many changes life will bring us over the years. A long-time faculty member of dance and yoga at City College of San Francisco and in Kinesiology at San Francisco State University, Jeanne has enjoyed over 35 years of teaching yoga (all levels of general Yoga classes, Yoga Movement, Yoga for Kids, Yoga For Moms Who Have Lost Their Babies), dance (Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Folk, Ballroom, Swing, Latin American Social--Merengue, Salsa, Cha-cha-cha, Composition, Dance Conditioning, Production, Repertory, History, Analysis of Folk and Ballroom Dance), and fitness classes (aerobics, personal fitness planning, resistance training) to students of all ages and fitness levels in a variety of venues, including several colleges, K-12 public schools, week-long camps, conventions, private studios, and inspiring outdoor settings. She has choreographed for theater productions, served as a choreographic coach, worked with private clients as a fitness and life coach, and with couples to create wedding dances.
